Happy Halloween! 10/30/2008

The twins decided to just go as themselves this year. Our little Angel, and our little Devil! We went to LDS Hospital where the babies were born for a preemie pumpkin patch party. It was so fun to see all the babies roomies all grown up. There were two other babies I specifically remember that had isolettes right next to our twins. It was so fun to catch up with their mothers and see all the familiar faces we remember from the preemie classes we went to. We got to see some of the nurses that helped look after our little ones. They remembered us, and remembered our babies and said they recognized  them from when they were only 3 pounds. I think they look so different from when they were born, so it was funny to hear that. We didn't stay for the costume contest winner, but i'm sure we won, I mean how could they not have ;)

Rubber Duckie 10/30/2008

Thanks Aunt Miranda, for singing me all 4 versus of rubber ducky over the phone until I got it right. This is the new favorite tubby song. We sing it every time now, along with a few other classics such as tiny turtle, and splish splash.

Rubber Duckie, you're the one,
You make bathtime lots of fun,
Rubber Duckie, I'm awfully fond of you;

A bodi o

Rubber Duckie, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Duckie, you're my very best friend, it's true!
O

Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yella and chubby

Rubber dubber duckie!

Rubber Duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber Duckie, I'm awfully fond of -
Rubber Duck, I wish I had a whole pond of -
Rubber Duckie I'm awfully fond of you!

Cute pictures 10/24/2008

Well it has been a while since I posted anything new so I will post some pictures of what the babies have been up to. Just getting bigger and cuter by the day, you know, the usual. The other day Jaxon just stood up and walked down the hall to me like 13 steps. He has walked 3-5 steps at a time for about a week now. This was so just out of the blue. He just comes walking down the hall to me like he has done it 10 times. He hasn't walked more than 5 steps since then, but it was really cool. Joss is pulling herself up and walking around the furniture, but doesn't have the balance to let go yet.
My mom came over last Thursday and watched the babies for the day. She taught Jaxon how to push Joss around on their little train. It is so funny. He takes his job very seriously put his head down and off they go.
Jasons parents took the babies BOTH to the cabin last weekend. It was a nice break for us, and the babies had so much fun.
We took Jaxon to Primary Children's Hospital yesterday for a followup on his Hydrocele. I'm not going to go into detail, so google it if you don't know what it is :)   Anyway, he still has it, it han't gone away on it's own yet. It's not bothering him, so we aren't going to do surgery unless it gets really bad, or starts to bother him.
We bundled the babies all up and took them to the park last night. They were so dang cute in their mittens and hats. I hate that it is getting cold outside. They love going to the park in their wagon!

Grammy Deary gave Joss piggies!

Just try to not pinch those cheeks. I dare you.

Cool dude in daddy's sunglasses.

We had a great weekend spending time with family. Grandpa and Grandma Browning came to visit from Twin Falls, ID. We had a big Saturday morning breakfast with Ben and Jess and cousin Jack, Matt, Jenny and cousin Jase, Uncles Mitch and Zak and our family. Jess and I took the 4 cousins Jack, Jase, Jaxon, and Josselyn to the park and it gave us an idea of what having quads would be like. All 4 kids wanting to do 4 different things, in 4 different directions! The girls went on a quick shopping trip to Ikea and left a houseful of boys in charge of 4 babies. They did great and all the kids were fed and had changed diapers when we got home. It was a great day spent with the family and the little cousins had so much fun playing with toys and interacting with each other. They are all just over 4 months apart in age. We had a great weekend. Thanks to everyone for coming over and hanging out with us. We love you all!

No No 10/07/2008

FREEDOM!!!!!! "Joss, I'll hold it open for you, then as soon as she's distracted and looks away I will jump out after you and we will be FREE!!!!!"

How do you teach a 1 yr old what the word "No" means? They have no clue what I am talking about. Joss will go splash in the dog water and I say "no no." and pull her away, she just smiles at me and crawls right back over to it. So I say it in a serious voice a little louder.. She just smiles at me and starts to crawl back over to it. Or Jaxon will be pulling my lamp over, or pulling glass dishes out of the cupboard, or throwing each item of clothing one by one out of their drawers. While I am cleaning up mess number one, they are in the next room making mess number two, and so on and so on. I really want to know... How do you teach your kids the word No? How long does it take for them to pick up on it? How do you begin to dicipline a child that doesn't understand what is going on? I don't want to have bratty kids that don't listen to discipline, but they are too young to really get mad at them or put them in time out etc.

The twins had their 12 month check up and I was a little surprised they are still smaller than the average 1 yr old. They seem so big to me (and heavy). Jaxon is only in the 3rd percentile. He is 18 lbs 8oz, and 28.4" long. Joss is 19lbz 14 oz and 28.5" long. So she is has passed him up in height. She is in the 30th percentile. They are right on track and doing great. They got their 1 yr immunizations and flu shots.  Jaxon still has a hydrocele but they wont do surgery until he is 2. We need to keep watching it and see if it goes away.
I bought them big kid car seats for their birthday, but they can't use them until they are 20lbs.

This is what my house looks like now:

1 year later!

I can't help but feel sentimental and reminisce about where I was a year ago today. Earlier that day I had the strong nesting instinct, Jason helped carry me into the babies room and I was sitting in a rocker folding their baby clothes. I stood up and lost my balance and fell. I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, but didn't think anything of it. Turns out, it caused a double placental abruption 7 hours later at 12:00am and I went into pre-mature labor 2 months early. I was hemorrhaging so bad that the paramedics were putting large IV's in my arm preparing for a blood transfusion.   I was panicked and scared to death thinking I was losing my two babies. What started off as the most terrifying day of my life, turned out to be the most miraculous.

I will never forget the day when I found out I was pregnant, and the day I found out I was having twins.

Getting these babies was not as easy as it should be, and after our first failed round of invitro we had almost given up hope of ever having a baby of our own when I decided to give invitro a try once more. Invitro consists of twice daily injections in my stomach and hip muscle for 2 months which was not fun and it never got easier. I had Dr Appointments every morning before work to get my blood drawn. I wanted to give Jason the joy of experiencing what I was going through so I one time took the shot out of his hand after he had given me my injection and stabbed him in the stomach with it. With my first round of invitro I was so sure it worked that I was let down big time when I found out it didn't. I tried to not get my hopes up with round two. A couple days before my Dr appointment to see if the invitro worked I decided to sneak and take a test at home. I was all by myself just staring at the test. It took the full 3 minutes until a tiny thin 2nd pink line appeared. It was not convincing enough so I jumped in the car drove to the store and bought 5 more tests, all different brands. One by one every test was positive. I was in total shock. I grabbed a shirt from the back of my closet that I had bought for invitro round one and almost threw away. It said BABY on it with an arrow pointing to my belly. I waited patiently for Jason to come home. If the invitro is successful,  you do 2 more weeks of injections. If it is not, then you can stop the injections. When Jason got home I said "I have bad news..., I am going to have to do the injections for 2 more weeks." Then I unzipped my jacket to reveal the "Baby" shirt. He picked me up and swung me around. We were screaming!

Day I found out it was TWINS.

2 days later, already knowing I was pregnant, I went to the Dr to get the official blood test taken. You want the test result to be a number around 100. That means a good healthy pregnancy. I got the call from the nurse while I was at work. She said "Jessica, are you sitting down?" I ran outside to take the call. "Are you ready for what your number is?" "I'm ready". "It is 1536!!!!" “What the? What does that mean? Am I pregnant with 1500 babies?” She said "You are definitely having AT LEAST two!"
So now comes freak out mode. Am I going to have sextuplets or something? I was so worried. I always wanted twins, but I knew all the risks involved with having multiples.

Oh Phew, it's only 2!

We went in for my ultra sound and there were 2 strong heartbeats, we were thrilled! But, they also detected what appeared to be a 3rd baby. It was too early to tell since I was only about 4 weeks along. They couldn't pick up a 3rd heartbeat, but they could see another form of blood flow. At a follow up appointment 2 weeks later it turned out to be the umbilical cord. So for a few weeks we knew there was a possibility of a 3rd baby!

There is nothing like holding two precious tiny babies to make 5 weeks of bed rest, and a total of 240 thick viscous shots worth it. I would have done those shots while standing on my head if I knew what the outcome would bring.

I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for having confidence in me to raise these two precious angels. They are two miracles I will never take for granted. I have loved every minute of being a mother. I will take the good with the bad. The 4 weeks they were in the hospital and the 15 hour days I spend there. The exhausting days and nights of nursing every 2 hours. The 12 diaper changes a day, Jaxon screaming with colic for hours at a time, and hundreds of sleepless nights. I love this age right now. They pick up on the littlest things. I am amazed at watching them learn to mimic noises and figure things out. They are so curious and smart.

I know it has only been a year, but I really feel like I have accomplished something amazing! I have survived my first year of raising twins. Hallelujah! I love you Jaxon and Josselyn. Happy Birthday! We are a happy little family and we did it together!!!

Stay tuned for pictures of their birthday party Luau extravaganza!!!
