Papa's Choo choo truck! 09/30/2009
Today on his way home from work Papa stopped right by our house by some office buildings with his big truck. He called me and I brought the kids over to climb in it. As soon as they saw it they were saying "Choo Choo! Choo Choo!" Joss was a little unsure at first and got a little teary eyed. Of course as soon as we drove away she wanted to go back and kept saying "Papa Choo Choo!!!" Jaxon on the other hand thought it was the coolest thing ever! He was so excited. This was at 5pm and everyone was leaving the office buildings heading home from work. Jaxon was LAYING on the horn. He kept honking it over and over. People would drive by and look up at John to see what his problem was, then they saw two little kids sitting on his lap with huge grins on their faces laying on the horn. Then they would smile and laugh. It was really cute. Here are some pictures! Running and slippery floors don't mix. 09/30/2009
Last night the kids were chasing eachother around the kitchen island 90 miles and hour wearing their slippery footed jammies. Jax collided with Joss, bounced off her and gouged his head right on the corner of the kitchen table leg. Jason and I both cringed when we saw it. We knew it was going to be a bad one. He was screaming. We were able to get the teddy bear ice pack on it for a minute. It swelled up pretty fast. Poor kid! We went and checked on him a few times during the night and it seemed to be looking better. This morning it is just a small cut, most of the swelling has gone down. Joss saw us fussing over Jaxon and got jealous. She pretended to hurt her head, then laid down on the tile and fake cried. She would stop and peek at us to see if we noticed her, then start up with her fake crying again. Then she came over, took the ice pack from Jaxon and put it on her head while fake crying. I said "Oh Joss, did you need someone to cuddle you too? Ok, I'll rock you too." Always competing for attention. Forts and Fountains 09/28/2009
I made some fun forts for the kids to play in today. We were playing peek-a-boo. They loved hiding in there. For lunch today we called Zak to come with us and met Dad at the Gateway Mall to let the kids run around in the fountains. This time Jaxon was the brave one. Joss was a little unsure, and did not like it when the fountain went right in her face. Jax was running around like a wild man and laughing the whole time. Oktoberfest! 09/26/2009
Today we took the kids up to Snowbird Ski Resort for Oktoberfest. We go every year, and it is so much fun! There is great food bratwurst and sourkraut, potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream, and delicious cherry chocolate cake with creme filling. YUM! There are lots of little shops and bouncy houses and bouncy slides for the kids. The best part is the live band and dancing. It was perfect weather today, and a great day to be up in the mountains. I love living in Utah. The mountains are just 15 minutes from our house. Thanks for coming with us Jenny and Jase we had so much fun with you! 2 year birthday photo shoot. 09/23/2009
It is pretty dang hard to get 2 kids not making weird looking faces for a picture. I thank Amber once again for her patience, and skill level. She ended up getting some great shots. I think for their 3 yr photos we will be able to bribe with toys and ice cream for them to smile. Here are some of my favorites! We took Joss to the ENT today. Sure enough, she needs to get her tonsils and adenoids removed. The ENT said he performs 400 of these surgeries a year and on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst, Joss' tonsils are a 9-10. He said it looked like two globe grapes in the back of her throat. He told us he never takes tonsils like hers lightly, because children who have sleep apnea caused from enormous tonsils put extra strain on the right side of their hearts when they struggle to breathe at night, and it can cause heart failure! I had no idea it could be that big of a deal, so I am very glad we are taking care of this now. He thinks it will cure her snoring, night terrors, and her waking up every night screaming. He asked us if she eats very well because they are so huge, a lot of kids have trouble swallowing with tonsils like hers. Actually, we think she has always been a good eater. Compared to Jaxon who is a little shrimp, she does eat well. He said the growth hormone that helps kids grow and develop is affected in children who don't sleep well at night. He thinks she will gain some weight and we will see a huge difference in her. The Dr also said that of all the surgeries he performs this one has the best results, and the her sleep habits should be like night and day after this surgery. He said without sticking a tube up her nose it would be hard for him to get a good look at her adenoids, but since we are getting her tonsils removed anyway, he thinks the adenoids need to come out at the same time. He will look at them during surgery and most likely just take them out. He is normally booked a few months out but had an opening on Oct 1st. I am sorry, but I am NOT going to ruin her 2nd birthday for her. They had another opening on Oct 19th. So we will do it then. He wanted to be frank with us and said recovery at this age from this type of surgery can be very painful, and usually takes a good 7-10 days and up to 2 weeks. They want her to spend the night for monitoring because she is a preemie, and just 2 yrs old. So I will be spending the night in the hospital with her. It will be interesting to see how Jaxon sleeps without Joss. They normally will not go to sleep without eachother. They have only been apart from eachother twice at night. Once was when Jaxon came home from the NICU 1 day before her, and the other was when they were about 8 months old Grandma and Grandpa took one of them to the cabin for a night. What I am worried about most is them wheeling Joss away from me for surgery, being confused and not knowing where she is or what happened to her. She wont understand why her throat hurts. I hate for my baby to be put under general anesthesia. And Jaxon wont understand why she wont play with him. It makes me want to cry just thinking about all of that. I do feel very confident in the Dr who will preform the surgery, and the pediatric anesthesiologist at Primary Childrens Hospital is one of the best in the nation. It is a pediatric hospital and I know the nurses will be great with her. The good part is she wont remember any of this. She will be able to sleep at night, which means the rest of us will be able to sleep. Hallelujuh! And now, I leave you with a video of my cuties!!! Joss reading a book, and Jaxon jumping in to recite all of his body parts. "Luh-Luh" 09/20/2009
Jaxon calls Joss "Luh-Luh". I don't know why. I don't know where he got it, but I think it is pretty cute. He used to call her "Ja", a few times he said "Joss," but now it is just Luh-Luh. My only thought is that it is from him shortening "Josselyn" but we call her Joss way more than Josselyn. Anyway, I love it and think it is so cute! I was about her age when I got my nickname Rella. I wonder if this name will follow her for a long time too. Apples YUM!The State Fair 09/19/2009
We invited Grammy and Grandy to go to the state fair with us today. We went to breakfast at Jims Diner for omlettes and hashbrowns first. Yum! We got the kids a Strawberry pancakes made into a smiley face with whipped cream and sausage. Of course my little carnivore Joss, only wanted the sausage and Jaxon got the strawberries and whipped cream all to himself. It was a HOT day today and we thought we would all pass out from heat exhaustion. The kids were having so much fun though. We couldn't believe how good they were being. Jaxon rode on a pony for the first time ever. All of our previous attempts he has freaked out, but this time he had so much fun. We went down a huge slide on burlap sacks. The kids loved it! We also rode on a bunch of fun little kid rides. Jaxons favorite was the helicopter and train. Joss loved the wiggle worm the best. We saw cows, pigs, sheep, goats, and chickens. They loved seeing all the animals and even got to pet a few! The best part was the grilled corn on the cob with lemon pepper butter! I put Tapatio hot sauce and parmesan cheese on mine after a recommendation from the cook. It was truly amazing. We had lemonade, shaved ice, and cotton candy too! The babies were fast asleep as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot to head home. Thank you so much Mom and Randy for coming with us! We had so much fun with you. Lots of laughter. 09/16/2009
The kids are cracking me up all day. They are so funny. They play so well together and I love that they have a built in best friend. Jaxons new thing to say is "No Momma" So I will say, "did you just hit Joss?" He says "No Momma" in a really sweet innocent voice. "Did you poop?" "No Momma" " I think you did buddy." "No Momma." He also says, "thanks Momma" whenever I had him something. Joss loves to dance and whenever a song comes on the radio she is movin' and groovin'. We discovered that Joss LOVES lemons. She sat there and sucked on a lemon until it was dry then ate the rind! I couldn't believe it. She was smacking her lips and slurping it down. Our fridge has a water/ice dispenser on the front of it. Jaxon learned how to stand on his tip toes and push his toys on the water lever and hold it there while water floods my kitchen and drenches him. I get to clean that mess up and change his clothes like 3 times a day. They also both want to know where everyone they know is at all times. "Where's Dadda, where's Ninny, where's Papa, where's Cece, where's Jitch (Mitch), where's Dude, where's Boppa, where's Jase, where's Nat (Matt)?" I hear this over and over all day. Our new favorite place to go when they are getting stir crazy in the house is Draper Park. We park right next to the horses and sit in the shade from a tree and watch the horses. They stick their heads right through the gate and the kids get so excited. They can climb right up onto my tall King size bed and love to jump on it, or have me throw them on it. They crack up and laugh their heads off. Last Saturday morning we woke up early and went to the Farmers Market at Pioneer park downtown. There were bands playing music, a chef cook off, lots of dogs playing, and a ton of yummy food. Here are some pictures from this last week. Joes crab Shack 09/07/2009
Monday night we went to dinner at Joes Crab Shack with Ninny, Papa, and Cece. The kids had so much fun running around outside, throwing pennies in the fountain, and picking flowers for Mommy. We got some pretty cute pictures. The weather was gorgeous, and the lighting was really pretty with the sun setting. Such a great end to a long weekend! Joss jabbering on 2 phones at once, and both kids running all over the place burning lots of energy so that they will sleep all night long for mommy and daddy :) |
