Time out fun 04/29/2009

The only real offenses around this house are 1. Biting. 2. Playing with the lazy susan, spinning it around and pulling out all my blenders, toaster, food processor etc. Jaxon does each of these offenses at least once a day. It is impossible to baby proof the lazy susan because you can push it open from both sides. I guess we could duct tape it shut or something. So today Joss opens up the lazy susan, and looks over her shoulder to see if I notice. Jaxon comes running over to play with the blender parts as well. I (in my most stern voice) say "No, we do not play in there." As I am marching over to remove them. Joss beats me to my line and yells "Time out!" and runs to the time out wall and sits down with the biggest smile on her face. Jaxon runs over and joins her. I was dieing inside trying not to laugh. I furrowed my eye brows and began counting in my low voice. Then Joss starts clapping and and has the biggest smile on her face. She was so excited to be in time out. I can not believe she actually said time out! Of course it was kind of jumbled together sounded more like TIM-OT! She had never been in time out before, and I guess she wanted to know what the hype was all about.I am still cracking up! How on earth am I suppossed to discipline when it is a fun game to them... Oh my gosh, what am I going to do. Hahahahaha.

Now that Jax and Joss are both walking well they don't like to be in the stroller for long periods of time. But when I am by myself it makes it very hard to have both of them out of the stroller. And they are getting heavy so it is hard to hold both of them. We decided to get them these little back packs that are yellow labs that look just like Morgan. They strap around them like a harness giving them a hug. The tails are like little leashes. They LOVE them. They call them their "Gogan Packs" which is what they call Morgan. I put them on them the yesterday to see what they thought and they would not let me take them off. Jaxon had fun toting Joss around behind him. They held onto eachothers tails all day. They even refused to let me take them off to change their diapers. That must have been uncomfortable to have a big back pack on but they didn't care. I had to take them off to put them in their high chairs to eat though. So I am glad they like them. I don't plan on using them often, but I will bring them with me when I go out just in case they freak out in the stroller. I know they are very controversal and a lot of people think it is horrible to "leash" your child like a dog. Well those people probably don't have multiples. I rather get looks for "leashing" my child, then have one of my kids stolen, lost, or run accross the street. Here are some pictures of them with their Gogan packs yesterday.

His favorite hiding spot, on the side of the crib. I sneaked up on him and yelled Rawr just as I snapped the picture.

My first french braid ever. I am very proud. I did 1 down the middle, and 1 down each side hooked in the back with a clip. It is hard to do on a moving target. It is messy and not pulled tight but now that I know how to do it hopefully I will just keep getting better.

Joss loves Grandma's earings.

I love this picture of uncle Mark reading to the kids. Joss is very entertained.

6 boys and me, on our way to the shooting range.

This picture cracks me up. I was taking a picture of Joss and her tiger and Ben bent over right when I was taking the picture. Joss's expression is like "Whoa that big butt is gotta get me!" Hahahaha

Jaxon came along for our outing at the shooting range. Jennny watched Joss for us but wasn't in the mood to watch 3 babies- I don't blame her! Don't worry, he stayed behind the glass so he didn't hear the loud guns.

All of our out of town family was visiting this weekend for my brother Ben and his wife Jessica's graduation from BYU. We had a big family breakfast party at our house Saturday morning and made an agreement that none of us can name our future children with a name that starts with the letter "J". Poor Grandma and Grandpa had a hard time keeping all the kids names straight. We heard "J.J.J.J.J.J.J.J.... whatever your name is.... come here!  a few times.
Here are the J names that were at the party: Jessica, Jason, Jaxon, Josselyn, Jenny, Jase, Jessica, Jack, and Joshua, The letter "M" was a runner up with Matt, Mitch, Mark, and Michelle.

Here is Jax, Joss, Jase, Jack, Josh, and Leslie Ann.

My house was spotless. Laundry done, mopped floors, dishes put away, and everything in it's place. I was trying to think of something fun for the kids to do today and decided to chill out, relax a little, and take my Aunt Michelle up on her advice. I handed them each a roll of toilet paper and let them go crazy. They had so much fun! They tore it into pieces and threw it in the air and giggled their heads off. It was so funny. I sat on the couch with my favorite gossip magazine and let them destroy those toilet paper rolls and have the time of their lives. The best part is, I got out a push broom and the entire mess was clean in about 2 minutes, but they must have had at least 45 minutes of fun!

Joss dancing to the cartoon Diego. If you listen close you can hear her say "Diego" twice. So cute !

Cell Mates

Jaxon is <this> close to climbing out of his crib. He gets a jumping start and teeter totters on his stomach on the edge of the crib while his feet try to climb up the side of the bars. I am not ready for this next phase yet. I am not so much worried about him injuring himself because lets face it this kid is made of steel. (Ok, I am a little worried) What concerns me the most is that he will now have options when I lay him down to take a nap, or worse, down for bed at night. I don't want him to have free reign to destroy his room, pull out everything from his drawers and use it as a step latter to climb on top of the dresser. Or pull everything off the hangers in his closet at 2am. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, I want him to be able to toss and turn a little and fall back to sleep, not think it's time to play and run around his room and throw things at Joss.
Once I convert his crib to a toddler bed, there is no turning back. I am not ready for them to be in separate rooms yet, and I don't think they are ready either. They like to babble and talk to each other and pass blankets and stuffed animals back and forth to each other through their cribs. The thought of separating them makes me sad. Not to mention having to dismantle my office and turn it into a baby room.
But once he is in a toddler bed, how can they nap in the same room? It will be hard for her to sleep with him opening and shutting drawers and slamming the rocking chair against the wall. I could put one of them in a separate room in a pack n' play for naps, but they have never slept well in those. And what about night time?
There is a nifty little item called a crib tent that is a mesh-like tent that clips onto the top of the crib. I may have to give it a whirl and see if we can stretch out this crib sleeping as long as possible.
Jaxon is also in a biting and spitting phase. Yesterday he bit Joss's back so hard I though she would burst an eye vessle her eyes got so big. She was screaming and I could not unclench his mighty jaws. I (for the first time ever) popped him on the mouth. Instantly mother guilt twisted in my stomach, but when he draws blood, a simple "go sit in time out" doesn't seem to get the point across. I can not allow him to bite his sister!
I was in the bathroom peeing for oh I'd say 45 seconds. When I came out I see Jaxon standing on the top of my kitchen table trying to swat the chandelier. What am I supposed to do bungee cord all the chairs together so he can't climb up? Or just save my bathroom breaks for 8:00pm. My whole house needs to be padded. He is a climber, a biter, a screamer, and a tantrum thrower. And guess what, we aren't even at the terrible two's yet.
Little Joss has never been disciplined in her life because I honestly can't think of a time she has done anything she isn't supposed to do. So the whole time I am sitting Jax in time out or telling him not to do something, she is like " Hey Jax wanna play? Here's a ball, here's a toy, and trying to climb on him and hug him. She doesn't get that he is in trouble, it is really funny.
Please don't get me wrong, reading this post back it doesn't sound very nice. Jaxon is a sweet little angel and is such a tender loving boy. He can be so sweet and loves to hug and kiss Joss, and laugh and be adorable in every way, but he just has this wild streak! I am just enjoying the challenge and trying to be the best mom I can be, while keeping my kids safe from danger as well as helping them learn to love and be gentle with eachother. As for now, there is not much more I can do that watch him like a hawk.

Dear Dad,
Thank you for being the coolest Dad ever. We love it when you toss us in the air and spin us around really fast. We love when you give us rides on your shoulders. We love when you run around with us on your back. We love it when you give us bubble baths and get our jammies on every night. We love when you take us for early morning biscuits and gravy from Chick-Fil-A before work. We love when you take us to the park and go down the slide with us and push us on the swings. We love it when you change our diapers and as a matter of fact, would love it if mom never did it again and you did it from now on ;) (Ok, just kidding, mom made us say that part) We love it when you hide on the side of the crib and jump out and scare us and we laugh our heads off and tackle you. We love that you are the perfect dad for twins because there is nothing we can do that is too much for you to handle. You are so cool and easy going and fun. You are just a pretty chill dad and that's our favorite kind! Mom thinks you are such a hunk and get even sexier the older you get (Gross mom!)
Thanks for spending your birthday with us and taking us to Gardener Village to ride ponies even though Jaxon is a scaredy pants and cried, and that made Joss scared and cry but at least you got your $6.00 back! We will have to try it again when we get more brave.
Thanks for also taking us to Wheeler Farm on your birthday to see all the stinky animals and for letting us feed the ducks.
And most of all, thank you for buying US a present on YOUR birthday. We love our new double DVD players  for the car and we promise to never scream and throw tantrums when we are in the car anymore cause now we can watch Robin Hood and be happy content entertained little babies.
We love you! Love, Jax Mong and Joss Mong

Mom knows EXACTLY how this sheep feels. I think the baby lamb's names are Jax and Joss.

Liberty Park 04/19/2009

During the day before all the drug dealers and Homeless people come out, Liberty Park is so much fun. I was looking online for someplace fun to take the kids and to my surprise Liberty park is rated # 1 park for kids in Utah. Little did I know, it has an amusement park, carousel, lake with ducks and canoes to rent, jungle gyms, food stands, and a bouncy houses. We even stumbled upon an eclectic drum circle with ska dancers- nice. We will have to go back again soon to the Tracy Aviary bird park there too.
We fed bread to the ducks, and played on the jungle gym and the babies loved the little amusement park. Whenever we see a duck in a book, or TV, or in the stream by our house the babies say "quack quack quack. So they were pretty excited to see how many ducks were at the lake at the park today. Here are some pictures of our fun afternoon.

Notice Josselyn's tiger. He goes everywhere she goes. I think he really liked all the rides too.

Happy Easter 04/14/2009

I have a lot to catch up on over the last few days.
Minutes before I left to get the kids professional pictures taken below I decided to cut their hair myself. I chopped off the back of Joss's hair to get rid of her baby mullet and thicken it up a little. I trimmed the top of Jaxon's hair and the neckline and around his ears. Their hair was styled and so cute but by the time we got to the photography studio they looked a little messy, oh well, they are still cute! So I decided the next day I needed to get their hair professionally fixed since I  didn't do a very good job. I took them to cookie cutters where they have cute airplanes and fire engines to sit in while they get their hair cut, they had balloons and movies and I thought they would have so much fun. Wrong! They both screamed hysterically and the hairstylists gave them suckers to try to calm them down. So now I have 2 screaming babies sucking on hairy suckers, and it was just a sticky mess! Not to worry, I won't be cutting Joss's hair again until she goes to college so it will be long and beautiful and i can do all kinds of fun hairstyles. Jaxons new hair cut is so cute. So hopefully he will get used to the clippers soon. Here are some pictures of the hair cut day.

Joss and her Tiger

Cousin BBQ

on Saturday we went to my dads cousin Shelly's house and had a big BBQ with all of our cousins and 2nd cousins. It was so much fun to see everyone. The babies had fun playing with their little dog and dancing to Rock Band.

Easter morning

Here are some pictures of Easter morning. We got all ready for church, but I was feeling so sick with a sinus infection/allergies/cold and had lost my voice so we decided to stay home so I could try to feel better before having 18 over for Easter dinner at our house. The kids had fun opening their Easter baskets and playing with balloons.

Car wash

I had the brilliant idea to take the kids thru a car wash. I thought it would be so much fun to see the squirting water on the windows, and brushes rolling by. Ah, not so much. Jaxon had a complete meltdown. He was freaked out. Jason had to unstrap him from the car seat to hold him. Poor kid. I thought it would be something so exciting.

Easter dinner

We decided to have Easter at our house this year. We had Jasons family and my family. Ceason made surprise visit from Arizona and was only here for 1 night but we were so happy to see her and have her spend Easter with us.
