Cuddling babies. 04/30/2008

One baby needs to cuddle with his sister to fall asleep, the other needs her thumb.

We took the babies on a walk at the park yesterday, they love being outdoors.

I started the kids on baby food last Sunday, and for a week now, they have been waking up between 2-4 am screaming! They had been sleeping for 8-12 hours the last few weeks, then as soon as I started them on baby food last week they have not been able to sleep at night. What ever happened to "Once they start on baby food, they will be more full and sleep through the night?" Josselyn screamed for so long last night, she is actually hoarse today. I could not get her to calm down, I finally just made her a bottle at 3:45am and then she went to sleep. We were finally out of the feeding in the middle of the night habit. I really don't want to start that all over again. They aren't having any of the "allergic reactions" to be concerned about, they must just be getting a tummy ache at night. I started feeding them their baby food at 10:30 am, and then just bottles the rest of the day to see if they ate it sooner maybe it wouldn't upset their tummys at night. Maybe it is just a coincidence that they have not been sleeping this week. I am voting that they get back on the 12 hour sleeping schedule, that was working out just dandy for me :)

Today we painted Joss's toenails. They are very pretty. Thanks for the cute matching "Miami" outfits Karina! The babies have been having a fun time with their Grandma's today.

The babies had their 6 month check up yesterday. Josselyn in 16lbs 5oz and 24.8 in long. Jaxon is 14lbs 13oz and 26 in long. They both have the same head circumference, but I think if they  would have measured necks and chins, Joss would have had him beat :)

Today we fed the babies carrots, and bananas for the first time. It was hilarious! At first they were not sure what to think, but then they loved it, especially the carrots. Jaxon liked the bananas a little more than Joss. So we are staring to feed them more rice cereal now, and baby food too. They are getting so big!

Jaxon is rolling over like crazy. He is constantly front to back, back to front, twisting and turning upside down in his crib.
Josselyn is content to just stay where she is. If I lay her on her stomach she will roll to her back.
For the last few months Josselyn has been clasping her hands together and holding them so tight. She does this all day, all night, even when she sleeps. I tried to google it to see if there is any significance to it and I couldn't seem to find anything on infant hand clasping. We just say she likes to pray a lot. She looks like a chipmunk when she does it, so we call her our little chipmunk. It is really cute. I will put up some pictures of her doing it.

Poor Josselyn. Daddy dressed her backwards. Oh well, it's the thought that counts. At least he tried. Or was he secretly putting her clothes on backward so I would think he is incompetent at dressing the kids, then I wouldn't have him do it again... hmmmm??
Here they are after mommy fixed it. Much better!

Jaxon learned how to roll over this week. He still has a hard time holding his head up for very long. I wake up in the morning to the muffled screams of him trying to suffocate himself. He is a mover, always kicking and squirming and turning around. It's no wonder he is so much skinnier than Joss all he does is burns calories all day. She is trying to sit up so bad, She lifts her head up and tries to lean herself up.

Here is Jaxon sucking on Josselyn's pinky finger. I swear he did that for like 5 minutes straight yesterday.

Fun weekend 04/12/2008

Today we took the babies to Haggermans for breakfast, then went to visit Grandma and Papa. Then we went to the mall. We each had one twin strapped to us in their bjorn harnesses and shopped around. Got stopped about 10 times by people asking us if they are twins, and if one is a boy and one is a girl...
Grandma and papa came over to babysit tonight while mom and dad went out to dinner with friends.
The babies have been really interacting with eachother this week. I find them just staring at eachother or holding hands, sticking their fingers in eachothers mouths, poking eachother in the eye, kicking eachother... the brother/sister fighting is beginning already :)

Does anyone have any tips for traveling to Hawaii with babies to share?
We are taking the twins to Kauai in June. I am excited, but also a little scared. It will be their first plane ride and they will be 9 months old. We are going to Kauai for Jason's cousins wedding. I know it is good to have them sucking on a pacifier or snacks on assent and decent to help their ears. They will be to small too drug them up on Dramamine:) And probably too small for a lot of toys and books to keep them busy. I was lucky enough to score 4 first class tickets from a Delta national account manager friend on mine. We are using 2 and Jason's parents are using the other 2 to help us with the babies. I am planning on a lot of long sleeve shirts, big brimmed hats, and gobs of sunscreen. 9 days in the Hawaiian sun is a lot for adults, let alone infants. Wish us luck! And send us any advice!
