What they are up to 28 months. 02/23/2010
I have to start off with the cutest moment I witnessed the other day: I went to pick up the kids from the child center at the gym and saw them both sitting next to each other on a chair. Jax stood up and grabbed a tissue and bent down and held it over Joss' nose for her to blow into. Is it just because I am their mom, or is that the most adorable thing in the world to anyone else? What they are up to: 28 months Jax: He is a very neat and clean eater. He switches between left and right hands but is better with his left. He is lactose intolerant and it makes it hard to find things for him to eat without being jealous of what Joss eats. He can throw a ball in the air and catch it. Can open the baby gate, and unlock the front door and go outside on his own. I run every time I hear the latch. Has OCD obsession with washing his hands and keeping his shoes on. He even sleeps with his shoes on every night. LOVES Joss. Wants to hug and kiss her all day. He is so thoughtful, if I hand him a fruit snack he always asks for one for Lala. Shares all of his snacks with her, and always gives her a turn to play with something. Always asking Where's lala's tooth brush? Where's Lala's apple juice? Where's Lala's shoes.. has to make sure she is all set with everything she needs. He is her little protector. Always hugs her when he is sad. He is so quick to say "I'm sorry, I'll never do it again," and then gives a hug. Likes to climb on top of the island in the kitchen and slide off. Likes to climb on top of the changing table, my desk, bathroom sink.. you name it. Sleeps with the same ratty brown bear I got at the Dollar Store forever ago every night. Also likes to hold a car in each hand. Loves to push the chair up to the fridge and hold in the water lever for 5 minutes straight and flood my kitchen. He Is obsessed with trucks, tractors and choo choos. I have to roll down his wondow and drive really slow when we pass construction so he can wave to all the tractors as cars honk behind me. Loves to blow bubbles Joss: Obsessed with pants. She insists on wearing two pair at a time. Before we leave the house I have to pry the second pair off of her as she screams "My PANTS Momma, My PANTS!!" She is obsessed with zippers, loves to wear hoodies, and loves when I wear hoodies so she can zip zip zip. There is barely enough room in her bed for her to sleep with all the stuffed animals she insists on having. She has recently added a few bunnies to the mix. Whatever Joss is eating she has to have a back up. So there will be a cracker in her mouth and one in each hand at all times. She loves to eat. She is starting to care about what she wears now. I can't just throw anything on her, she has to approve it first. She still doesn't sleep through the night and wakes up screaming sometime between 11-2 am every night. It is so much fun! Gets very upset at the scary parts in Nemo or Lion King and I have to fast forward it. She covers her eyes and wont watch. She has been giving in to some of Jaxons affection lately and will let him hug and kiss her on occasion. She loves to clomp around in mom and dads shoes. Loves to eat oranges and lemons with the rinds and all. I have like 10 oranges on the counter with huge bites taken out of each one. Loves to color, sing and dance. They both love to go to the park. We try to get out of the house at least once a day for a little adventure. Their nightly ritual includes chasing eachother around the kitchen island and dancing then settling down to read a book with mom and dad before bed. They are learning to count and we are practicing the alphabet. We are still trying to grasp the whole potty training thing. When you have two kids with two completely different potty patterns it gets hard to make any sort of schedule or routine with it. Well that is all I can think of for now. They are both happy and healthy and I am having the time of my life being their mommy. Mommy bye bye, and the Daddy daughter Ball. 02/16/2010
So Jess went out of town to a New York fashion show last weekend so I took a couple days off of work to play Mr Mom. I also promised Jessica I would do a Webster twins post about my exploits. So not quite so eloquent as Jessica but here it goes... Wednesday: Mom is off on a Jet plane at 10:30 PM. Babies went on a ride with me to the airport to drop Mommy off. The Mongs watched Nemo in the car so that's always a hoot, for the 1,057th time. Needless to say they were sad to see Mom go, as was I. Bed time after airport, easy!!! Not feeling so hot though, late night work plans will need to be put on hold. It's only Midnight and I'm already off to bed. Thursday: 6:30 AM - I feel like... well not sure I can say it on my monger's blog. Can't sleep, head is pounding, I never get sick, except for when Mommy is away of course. DayQuil I love you, no really I do, I'm not quite sure what I would do with out you or your friend Mucinex. 8:15 AM - The Mongs awake, Jax does a comedy routine every morning for Joss for a bout 15 minutes which provides adequate time for me to realize that the drugs have in fact kicked in, I can stand. Game plan is in action, I have Daddy day 1 planned out! Daddy Cowboy up, Kids Dressed, out the door! The rest of the Morning:Chik Fil A for the win! You know there is nothing like a little ChickFilA breakfast. Had to make tweaks to the plan however. Not going in and heading to the play ground, Dad's not feeling it, in fact Dad can't even drink his coffee let alone eat his, what was supposed to be delightful, ChickFilA Breakfast. Side Note: Joss Pig Tail Attempt 1- Success 7.5 The Kids go so so with their breakfast, which is disappointing.. I mean Chick A Freaking Lay right? So next step on my game plan was hitting the gym. The Laddies at day care absolutely love me because I am the best Dad in the world and change Diapers for Mom while she is in her Yoga classes. I am generally a pretty big hit there. The kids love it and I just really need to get to the gym. But the gym is out... Not feeling good. Ok want to know what I love? Chugginton. Ok I know Disney totally ripped off Thomas the Train but you know what they say "Good Artist Copy, Great Artists Steal". Come on Disney one upped ya Thomas, move on. Anyways, between Chugginton and DinoTrain I am able to keep the mongs at bay. Actually, as sick as I felt it was a blast. We ran around they danced to choo choo songs and they both sat there with me while I was not feeling so hot and watched shows, all in all a good morning. My buddy Steve stopped by to say hi and watched half a episode of Chugginton, riveting stuff I tell you. Nap Time: Again I had planned to get some work done. I took about 30 minutes to answer some emails and then blacked out until the kids woke up. I don't sleep, ever. Me sleeping during the day? Unheard of, me sick. After the nap and additional help from DayQuil the rest of Thursday was easy. Again Thursday night, I cleaned up the house, did a little work and passed out earlier then I can remember. Friday: Ok morning rolls around and I don't feel great but compared to Thursday I am ready to rock. My Mom came over Friday morning to see the babies and so the day began. We had a great day. ChickFilA again? Yes, again. I was just so disappointed with the previous day's CFA attempt that I just had to try again. This one was actually a bit more successful. The kids had a blast. So did my Mom. I even ate a little food as I was feeling a little better. The kids had fun in the playground, sometimes Jaxon likes to scare kids twice his age cause he is a freak, which yes is going to get him in big trouble one day. It's nice that he is very protective over Jossy, just not so nice for the other kids. Daddy has to step in once, "Jaxon! No hitting! Time out." Actually though I am thinking, "Nice hook Jaxon. That's right you little shit, you push my Daughter over again and her brother will bite your face". Sorry other kids. We leave ChickFilA and head for the Aquarium! Woot! Love them some fishes! Grandma and I are getting them pumped the whole way. "Are you guys going to see the Fishies?", "Who's gonna see a fish!". Again, Nemo is playing in the car, this only amplifies the excitement of seeing the fish. "Are you gonna see Nemo?" SO EXCITED!!!! Park the car, get the kids out of their car seats, Grandma and I continue pumping the fish activities we are about to experience as we head for the door. Other families are also packing their strollers up around us. A school Bus full of kids is blocking the entrance. "Huh, field trip, they must be leaving, why else would it be full of kids?" That was answered when I tried to open the door and found it to be firmly set in place. They don't open until 11 AM! What a awkward freaking time to open? 11? It's 25 minutes until 11 still! Twins, activate super twin scream of disappointment!Well this sucks. I was not the only one there who thought the 11 am time sucked, many people including the kids in the yellow bus thought it was lame. So I promised them fish, and damn it, fish they will have. Off to Cabellas and their enormous fish tanks, added bonus of several stuffed life like animals! Bam! Cabellas was a hit. Grandma spoiled them with what ever they pointed at and we had a great time. Ninny had never been to Cabellas either so she had an amazing time with Mongers there. Then what? Another bonus? Papa Choo Choo Truck!"Papa Choo Choo Truck" is what Jaxon says multiple times a day referring to my father's Tractor Trailer he drives for Yellow Freight. Grandpa called us as we were getting ready to leave Cabellas and he just happened to be in the area. So they got to go see the truck in the parking lot which was yet another big hit. That was an event filled morning, we get the kids home and they go right down for their nap. Grandma Ninny stays at the house while the kids are napping and I run to the gym. Still not feeling great so no more then 10 minutes into a run and I call it quits and hit the steam room. On the way out I stop and start asking questions about the big dance. Apparently this is a much bigger deal then I thought. Looks like they are going all out on the festivities. It's not exactly Formal or anything, some Dads are just wearing Jeans. But this is for Joss mong, so I called around for a Tux, but by the time I would be able to get fitted for one the twins would be up and I would be hard pressed getting Joss ready for the dance. So I decide on taking a nice blue shirt to get pressed for the evening. I drop it off and tell the nice lady I need it quickly for tonight's Daddy Daughter dance. Not only did she drop everything and immediately get my shirt taken care of but she refused to let me pay and only told me that I need to make sure my Daughter has an amazing time. Will do nice dry cleaning lady, will do, and thanks! Auntie Ceason to the rescue! Ninny and Ceason both helped me get the kids up and going after their nap. Ceason did a number to Princess Josselyn's hair. She was an absolute Doll. I was a little worried as she was cranky and was absolutely not having the Tinker Bell outfit we had originally planned. Ceason took Jossy to the store and got her a cute pink dress while Jaxon helped me get ready. The car ride calmed Joss down enough so Ce Ce was able to finish getting my little princess ready. So... A stop at Walmart to get some oohs and ahhs from the crowds over how cute Joss was, and more Mucinex for Dad to make it through the evening, and off we go! The Daddy Daughter Ball Ok so big tough Fathers... you were sappy joyous Daddys at this dance. The whole production was very fun. Joss had an amazing time. Some of the Dads went all out and Dressed up in full on Prince outfits. Yes, I am pissed I missed an opportunity to wear a cloak. Regardless, Princess Josselyn got, of course, many accolades on how cute she was. I had a camera, a Flip Video recorder, Joss's coat and Joss would not let me set her down for more then 10 seconds so it was really hard to get any pictures of her let alone of us together. There were lots of lines. I can't believe how many people turned out for this thing. There was a 15 minutes wait just to get your card so you could get in the line to get announced into the ball. Joss actually did really well in all the lines, especially as when she got to pick her flower before being announced. After "Princess Josselyn, Daughter of Lord Webster" was announced and came down the stairs to jump into Daddy's arms, we looked around a bit and saw all the Disney Princesses they had dressed up. Every Disney Princess you can think of was there. Who ever they had playing Belle was hot, so of course all the Dad's were in line to get their daughter's pictures taken with her. I was there for little Joss Princess, plus I had a Hotter Version of my own Belle coming home from New York the next night so we didn't bother with that that line. We did stick around for story time from Snow White. Even for story time Joss would not get down on the ground with the other little girls, she would not let me put her down. Other then when we sat down and ate, I held her for 2 and half hours, my arms are still killing me. Joss was kind of in awe for the first 30 minutes or so once we were actually in the ball (once Gymnasium). After Joss got her Picture with Cinderella we went over to the food table. This was of course Princess Josselyn's favorite part. Chocolate Fondue Fountain anyone? After she ate all the food she could we loaded her up with Chocolate Strawberries, Oreos, and Rice Kripsy Treats. Joss loved it! Imagine little princess shoving her face full of stuff while she watches people getting Dance lessons and staring at all the princesses, she was in Heaven! She got her Dress all messy but I didn't care it was too priceless watching her enjoy herself. I took her to the Men's Locker room and cleaned her up. I had a really cute Jacket to put on her anyways. We then got in the biggest line of night, the 40 minute line to go on a Horse Carriage ride. Again Joss did really good in the line. We definitely had some special Daddy Daughter moments, she would lay on my shoulder while I danced her around, was all very special. Joss got down and danced while we waited, which is to say; she stumbled recklessly all over the place. She saw the Dance Lessons going on while we were waiting in line and insisted on holding my finger and spinning round and round, ummmm cute much? She is now a world class spinner while stumbling dancer. She did take one fall that had her crying pretty bad while I was filming her, poor thing. Not to worry, she was off spinning again in no time. We got one of the last few Carriage rides before they closed it off. Joss loved this a little too much. It was a 5 minute Carriage ride around the Gym and she loved every second of it. The smile on her face is something I honestly don't think I'll ever forget, it was the same one she had while she was eating, minus the chocolate everywhere. Once the carriage stopped and we got out she was still grinning and as I said, "Say Bye Bye to the horses", that grin faded rather quickly. She was not having it. On a night where all your dreams are coming true why the hell shouldn't she get to keep the horse? I can see her logic there. She was mad! I tried taking her back to the horse and calming her down and said "Oh are you sad you didn't get to say Bye, ok pet the horse and say Bye Bye". She instantly calmed down, petted the horse, and said "bye bye Horsey". Then as I pulled her away, I mean people were in line we were holding up the Carriage, she got really upset again. I took her back inside and she was still crying. She was pretty mad at me. I mean how dare I rob her of her horse on a night like this right? Thankfully Aunt Ce Ce had come to take pictures of us and showed up at a perfect time. Joss instantly jumped into her arms and she quickly forgot about the Horses. Alas, the ball was coming to an end. They dropped hundreds of balloons from the ceiling of the Gym and Joss was once again in awe and back on Daddy's good side as we tried to catch a balloon. She was all smiles even on the way out she was so adorable stating over and over again "So fun!", "So fun Dad!" It was a night she probably won't remember, but I always... always will. Saturday: Saturday was very uneventful compared to Friday of course. But the kids and I still had fun in the morning. A preview of a new movie came on while we were watching TV, Jaxon was entranced. I promised Jax I would take him to see Dreamwork's How to tame a Dragon for his first movie ever since he didn't get to attend any special event with Dad. March 26th Buddy! Zak was staying with us for the weekend so he watched the kids for me in the afternoon while I went to a Movie with Ceason, Shawn, and Murph. That was a nice little break even though Wolfman was not very good. Side Note: Joss Pig Tail Attempt 2- Less Success 5.5 Ok so after I put the kids down for the night a little after 8pm I am mad rush to impress Mom with a clean house. I help clean house everyday, not a big deal. Except.... Laundry! I think I would rather shovel dog feces then fold laundry. I'm not sure what it is. It's just so damn monotonous. So time consuming for so little results. I'd take toilets any day over folding laundry. Dishes? Pffft, I do dishes in my sleep, but laundry? I freaking hate it! Regardless I finish the stupid Laundry. I woke the kids up and tossed them in the car at 10:15, we picked up Mom from the airport that night at 11:00 PM. Nemo is still in the Damn DVD players! Sick of that fish right now. The kids were of course so excited to see Mom come home. So to sum it all up: The Daddy Daughter Dance was a huge hit. They did great with Dad. But whenever there was a big bonk, and believe me with Jaxon, that's like every 20 minutes, they still cry for Mom first before crying for Dad, even when they know she isn't in the room. They really missed Mom. These two are a handful and Jessica does an amazing job with them. I'm not sure I could do it all day everyday, especially if I had to fold Laundry. I wish I wasn't sick the whole weekend but we still had a great time. Dad out Teaching to love. 02/06/2010
Last night we were playing with the kids in the kitchen. Jason came and gave me a big hug and we embraced for a minute kind of rocking back and forth. I had my head on his shoulder and looked over to see Jaxon put his arms around Joss and they both embraced and rocked back and forth. We smiled and Jason gave me a little kiss. Jaxon grabbed both of Josselyns cheeks and planted a big sloppy kiss on her, and she let him. She kissed him back and then laid her head back on his shoulder and copied our hug some more. It was such an adorable moment. I love that my kids are able to see how much their mommy and daddy love each other and learn to be tender and sweet with each other. Too many parents fight and argue and yell at each other in front of their kids. It makes me so sad. So many kids are raised in a toxic environment and grow up to follow in those footsteps and act out because of it. I hope Jason and I always make sure our kids see us be affectionate to each other, and to them. There has never been a shortage of hugs in this house. I hope we can still say that in 20 years. I love my husband so much, and I love teaching my kids to love! Circus 02/02/2010
We went to the Circus tonight at the South Jordan Equestrian Park. Papa got us some free tickets for the kids, and it was only in town for one night so I decided to be a cool mommy and let them stay up way past their bedtime, and shove all the cotton candy, churros, nachos, slushies, and licorice they could fit into their little mouths. Joss danced her heart out to all of the music. Jax jumped around and screamed and clapped a lot. Ceason took Joss to get her face painted and I died laughing when I saw her. She had the most serious look on her little Tiger face! Jax did NOT want his face painted. They both went on a pony ride and had fun watching the tigers, elephants, and bears. It was a fun night! Thanks for coming with us Ninny, Cece, Jenny and Jase! We ran into my Aunt Cindy and Uncle Craig who were taking their grand kids Callie, Burke, and Judd to the circus. It was so fun to see all of them! |
